Special Distribution

On Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, Norske Skog Canada Limited (now Catalyst Paper Corporation) implemented its previously announced special distribution to shareholders of $12 per Class A Common Share. The special distribution consisted of a return of capital of $7.60 per share and a dividend of $4.40 per share.

Norske Skog Canada Limited (now Catalyst Paper Corporation) paid a quarterly dividend of $0.15 per Class A common share, payable on June 15, 2001, to shareholders of record on June 4, 2001.

Suspension of Regular Dividend

On Aug. 27, 2001, due to the magnitude of the distribution of cash as part of the special distribution, the company announced that it has suspended payment of its regular quarterly dividend. (See News Release of Aug. 27, 2001.)

The regular dividend shall be suspended until Catalyst's Board of Directors decides that it is prudent to re-establish its dividend policy.

 

 

2001 was one of the most significant years in the history of the company. A special dividend, accompanied by a return of capital component, resulted in an overall $12 per share distribution to shareholders and was by all accounts the largest cash payment of its kind in Canada.
