Meet Our Operational Leaders

Crofton Division — Don McKendrick


Don McKendrick, P.Eng. became Crofton Division's vice-president in November 2001. Don came to Crofton from Mississauga, Ontario, where he offered general management and consulting services to the pulp and paper industry.

Don's work history includes the general manager's position at the Gold River kraft pulp mill operation for Bowater Pulp and Paper Canada, manufacturing manager for St. Mary's Paper and production manager for Prince George pulp and paper mills for Canadian Forest Products.

Under Don's direction, the Prince George mill achieved zero lost-time accidents over a one-year period. He was also instrumental in the mill receiving the first ISO certification for our industry in North America.

Elk Falls Division — Tom Paisley


Tom Paisley was appointed Elk Falls Division's general manager in May 2008. Tom joined the company in January 2006 as mill manager, paper operations at Elk Falls Division. He brought more than two decades of industry experience with him, having served as an operations manager, production manager and in a variety of other positions in leading mills. With both a science and an engineering degree and a wide range of expertise in plant management, product development, marketing and maintenance/engineering management, Tom is a seasoned and well rounded leader.

Paper Recycling Division — Janet Tecklenborg


Janet Tecklenborg was appointed Paper Recycling Division's general manager in May 2008. She first joined the company in 2000 as an environmental biologist at Powell River Division. Since then, she has navigated through the divisions as an environmental engineer and technical specialist, and most recently, as Paper Recycling Division's operations manager. A professional engineer with expertise in several areas of pulp and paper as well as process engineering, she has a strong track record in developing and implementing process improvements that decrease operating costs and improve quality. This experience, combined with proven leadership talents, contribute to Janet's success in her current role.

Port Alberni Division — Kim Pedersen


Kim joined the company in the spring of 2003 as director of operations at Port Alberni Division. In 2007, he took on the role of technical director and was then appointed to lead the mill team as the operations director with an expanded set of responsibilities for the day-to-day management of the paper mill. Kim entered the industry 24 years ago with a chemical engineering degree from the University of Waterloo, Ontario. Throughout his career, he has demonstrated technical excellence and strong leadership in safety, quality, cost reduction and continuous improvement.

Powell River Division — Stew Gibson


Stew Gibson was appointed Powell River Division's general manager in May 2008. He began his career in the pulp and paper industry at Crofton Division in 1991 as a mechanical engineer. From there he moved to other divisions as a maintenance supervisor and paper machine supervisor, completing a master's degree in pulp and paper technology along the way. Stew became a paper machine superintendent in 2000, contributing to improved results in safety, quality, production and manufacturing costs. In 2005, he became director, paper operations at Powell River Division.

Snowflake Mill — John Mckee


John McKee has been with the Snowflake Mill since 1994, and has served as its general manager since 2004.

Prior to joining this operation, he held positions with Stone Container and Champion International, and he has some three decades of experience within the paper industry.

John holds a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from Montana State University.
