About the Division

Located at the head of scenic Alberni Inlet on Vancouver Island, Port Alberni Division is one of North America's largest producers and suppliers of telephone directory and lightweight coated papers.

Our division produces directory, mechanical specialty papers and lightweight coated paper for publishers and commercial printers throughout North America, South America and Asia. Our products are used to print a wide range of products including telephone books, magazines, catalogues, flyers and airline schedules.

1947 — single-line kraft mill began operation
1956 — a paper machine was added to produce linerboard
1958 — another paper machine was purchased
1964 — another paper machine was purchased
1983 — first telephone directory paper was produced
1995 — one of the three paper machines was reconfigured to produce lightweight coated papers for the burgeoning magazine and flyer market
