About the Community
Campbell River, a world-renowned salmon fishing haven, lies 155 kilometres north of Nanaimo. Its position at the midpoint of Vancouver Island's east coast makes it a natural distribution and service centre for the northern half of the island.
As well, Campbell River has a prime position on the Georgia Basin — the area formed by the Strait of Georgia, the B.C. coastal mainland, the Gulf Islands and Vancouver Island. With 30,000 residents, it is a major regional centre with a and diversified local economy that includes tourism and forestry components.
