About the Division
The Vancouver suburb of Coquitlam is home to Catalyst's Paper Recycling Division. Our Paper Recycling Division began operations in 1991 as the first de-inking plant of its kind in Western Canada.
The division annually produces more than 140,000 tonnes of de-inked pulp from old newspapers and magazines. Our paper manufacturing divisions then use this de-inked pulp to produce newsprint and telephone directory paper.
Two major railways serve our division, and we have ready access to the Trans-Canada Highway and barge transportation on the Fraser River. This allows us to receive newspapers and magazines by truck, rail or barge from western Canada and the United States.
