About the Division
Powell River Division, located on the mainland coast of British Columbia, is a leading producer of high-quality newsprint and uncoated mechanical specialty papers. Our specialty papers are used in catalogues, magazines, newsletters, inserts, flyers and high-volume weekend newspaper magazines.
Our division has come a long way since 1912, when it began operation as the first newsprint mill in Western Canada. In those early years, the division produced 109 tonnes of newsprint a day on two machines for newspaper publishers in Vancouver and Seattle. Today, we produce 470,000 tonnes of mechanical paper a year for commercial printers and publishers in North America, Latin America and Asia.
