Environmental Practices

Snowflake has a strong track record with respect to environmental compliance and the development of innovative solutions that lighten its footprint while often advancing business objectives at the same time. It has won a variety of awards for environmental leadership. The following are highlights with respect to environmental performance:

	ISO 14001 certification for its environmental management system (in place since 2003)
	FERC qualification, allowing it to sell internally generated power onto the grid
	development of an effluent management approach through which treated effluent is used to irrigate a 3,100-acre (1,250 ha) on-site farm producing feedlot crops
	soon-to-be commissioned upgrade to emissions control system at its #2 boiler
	soon-to-be commissioned on-site biomass facility (separately owned) which will consume mill byproducts and tree thinnings to produce state-approved green energy for sale onto the grid
