Blair lives and breathes directory paper, having worked in technical support roles for RR Donnelley, James River Corporation and Simpson Paper Company before joining Catalyst in 1996 to lead the development of lightweight coated papers at the Port Alberni mill. Today he focuses heavily on directory paper performance and improvements. Before immigrating to Canada in 1977, he completed his apprenticeship as a printing press operator in Scotland, then moved to England and completed a bachelor's degree in printing technology at Watford College of Technology. John also worked as the customer service manager at Quebecor World's Richmond Hill plant in Ontario before joining Catalyst in 1989 as a technical representative at the Crofton mill.
