Catalyst appoints Bill Dickson to board of directors

Richmond, BC – Catalyst Paper is pleased to announce the appointment of William (Bill) Dickson, Q.C. to its board of directors effective June 9, 2008. Mr. Dickson brings extensive and varied corporate experience to the board as a long-time advisor on forest industry matters.

“Bill’s governance and transactional background will be of great value to our board as Catalyst continues to develop its strategic plans during a period of structural change in our industry,” said Chairman Michel Desbiens, in making the announcement.

Weir begins reducing Cowichan River flow

Crofton, BC - Beginning today, the Cowichan Lake weir operation will gradually reduce the river flow rate from 15 cubic meters per second to the target summer flow rate of 7 cubic meters per second, as set by the Ministry of Environment.

Catalyst Snowflake Mill given notice of corrugating machine shut

Richmond, BC – Catalyst Paper Corporation (TSX:CTL) has been advised by Smurfit-Stone Container Enterprises Inc. that it will cease operation of the corrugating medium machine at the Snowflake Mill no later than October 15, 2008.

Snowflake Mill has operated the Smurfit-Stone machine under a 10-year contract. Closure of the machine will result in elimination of approximately 100 salaried and hourly positions at the mill.
