Cowichan Lake Weir Shuts Down for Winter

Crofton, BC: On October 29, 2009, Catalyst Paper will cease operation of the Cowichan Lake weir that regulates water flow out of Cowichan Lake. Recent rainfall that is replenishing the lake has caused water levels to rise such that water is soon expected to be cresting over the top of the weir and naturally increasing flow in the river.

Catalyst announces departure of chief financial officer

Richmond, BC – Catalyst Paper (TSX:CTL) today announced that it has accepted the resignation of David Smales, vice president, finance and chief financial officer. He will leave the company effective November 4, 2009 to join a Toronto-based construction and infrastructure development firm.

Catalyst earns climate leadership recognition for third year

Richmond, BC – Catalyst Paper (TSX:CTL) has been named a Climate Disclosure Leader in recognition of exceptional transparency relating to climate change. Catalyst has appeared on this ranking since 2007, based on the quantity and depth of information provided to the global Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). It is one of two Canadian manufacturing companies and the only forest-products company to earn this recognition for 2009.
