Re-build of Port Alberni-area dam set to begin

Port Alberni, BC – Catalyst Paper (TSX:CTL) is about to begin re-building the Robertson Creek Dam.  Catalyst is undertaking this work in a strategic alliance with the Hupacasath First Nation.  The dam is located in Hupacasath traditional territory, and the first nation has been actively engaged in long-standing efforts to advance the re-build project.

Catalyst Paper to assess improvements to its capital structure

Richmond, (BC) – Catalyst Paper (TSX:CTL) today announced that it is reviewing alternatives to address its capital structure.  The review will focus on alternatives for its US$250 million of 7.375% senior unsecured notes which mature March 31, 2014.

Catalyst extends FSC certification company-wide

Richmond, BC – Catalyst Paper (TSX:CTL) has achieved Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) controlled wood and chain-of-custody certifications at its three Canadian manufacturing operations. Catalyst had already implemented FSC chain-of-custody at its recycle mill in Snowflake, Arizona, as well as Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) chain-of-custody at its Canadian operations.

Catalyst Paper named to best 50 Canadian corporate citizens list

Richmond, (BC) – Catalyst Paper (TSX:CTL) is pleased to accept — on behalf of 1,800 employees and the communities where they live and work — two honours marking the company’s achievements in sustainability and social responsibility.

This month, Catalyst was named as one of the top 20 overall best corporate citizens in Canada by Corporate Knights in its 2011 Best 50 Corporate Citizens in Canada list. Corporate Knights magazine was founded in 2002 to raise awareness of sustainability issues and is distributed quarterly as an insert to the Globe and Mail.
