The City of Alberni’s purchase of Catalyst’s wastewater treatment facility and additional lands completed as scheduled on September 30th, 2013 in accordance with the formal agreements endorsed by Council for the City and Catalyst.
Chemainus, BC - In a joint effort in promoting stewardship, environmental responsibility and community engagement; Catalyst Paper is partnering with Halalt First Nation, with support from the Young Professionals of Cowichan, Crofton Fire Hall, and Island Corridor Foundation to participate in the Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, a conservation initiative of the Vancouver Aquarium and World Wildlife Fund of Canada.
Crofton, BC – Beginning on September 22, 2013, the annual fall pulse will take place on the Cowichan River. This increase in river flow from 13 to 18 cubic metres per second involves manually adjusting gates at the Lake Cowichan Weir and is conducted to aid the upstream migration of spawning Chinook salmon.
