Richmond, BC – Catalyst Paper responded with disappointment today following the U.S. Department of Commerce’s final determination setting Catalyst’s countervailing duty rate at 3.38% and anti-dumping duty rate at 16.88% on Canadian exports of uncoated groundwood paper.
Richmond, B.C. – Catalyst Paper (“Catalyst”) announced today that it has completed the sale of the company’s U.S. operations to ND Paper LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Nine Dragons Paper, a Hong Kong Stock Exchange listed company, for proceeds of US$175 million as previously announced on May 25, 2018.

Company will continue to vigorously defend itself against unwarranted and onerous trade action
Richmond, (BC) – Catalyst Paper will continue to vigorously defend itself against an unwarranted and onerous U.S. trade action following today’s disappointing decision by the U.S. Department of Commerce that it will impose a 22.16% anti-dumping duty deposit on the company’s exports of uncoated groundwood paper products. Uncoated groundwood directory paper was excluded from the duty.
Duncan, BC – Changes in the demand for water, including environmental flow needs, as well as changing climate and land use changes in the watershed over the past 50 years are challenging the security and availability of water to meet the community’s needs. This has been increasingly evident over past years where there has been scarcity of water in the Cowichan River system over the summer months. To help address these issues, work has begun to create a Water Use Plan.
