Walter Tarnowsky – VP and GM of Powell River

Walter Tarnowsky is Vice-President & General Manager, Powell River Division, on an interim basis. Walter brings to this role over two decades of experience improving paper machine quality and productivity, including previous experience at the Powell River mill. After completing his Bachelor of Applied Science (Chemistry/Energy and Fuel Science) at Lakehead University, Walter began his career as Assistant Paper Machine Manager, joined Catalyst in 2000 as Paper Machine Manager, and progressed to Paper Mill Production Manager and then Director, Paper Mill Productivity, where he  oversaw all mill productivity at Catalyst. 


Marc Bodin – GM of Port Alberni

Marc Bodin is Acting General Manager for the Port Alberni Division, and was most recently Port Alberni's Manager of Paper Operations and New Business. Born and raised on Vancouver Island, Marc joined Catalyst in June 2005, and has worked at all three of our B.C. mills as Project Engineer (Powell River), Maintenance Engineer (Crofton) and Maintenance Manager (Port Alberni).

Marc earned a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Victoria.


George Milosevich - GM of Crofton

George Milosevich was appointed General Manager of the Crofton mill in March 2018.  He has over 34 years of forest industry experience in mill management, technical services, production and continuous improvement.  Most recently, George was Paper Mill Manager at Crofton.  George first joined Catalyst in 1989 working in progressively senior roles at Crofton and Elk Falls.  Prior to that, he held senior continuous improvement roles at Norske Skog’s mills across Europe, South America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand.  He then moved to Malaysia as CEO of Malaysia Newsprint Industries before rejoining Catalyst in 2015 as Manager of Technical, TMP and Bleaching at the Powell River mill.

George holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of British Columbia. 


Harold Norlund – VP Strategic Initiatives

Harold Norlund was appointed Vice President, Strategic Initiatives in March, 2018. He joined Catalyst in April 2014 as Vice-President & General Manager, Port Alberni Division. Harold has more than 20 years of cost-reduction and profitability-enhancement experience in operations management, including previous senior roles during his 15 years at the Crofton paper operations. He returned to Canada to join Catalyst after 12 years with NPIUSA Port Angeles, Washington, where he was the Executive Vice-President. Prior to that, Harold was General Manager of the Abitibi Mackenzie paper mill.

Harold graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Manitoba and is a Professional Engineer with APEGBC.


Carlo Dal Monte - VP Energy and Strategic Development

Carlo Dal Monte was appointed Vice President, Energy & Strategic Development in January, 2018. Carlo joined Catalyst in 1993 and has worked in technical and leadership roles in both Kraft Pulp and Paper production throughout the company as well as corporate energy initiatives and policy. Carlo holds a Masters of Engineering, Pulp and Paper and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Mechanical Engineering, both from the University of British Columbia.


Graham Kissack - VP Sustainability and Social Responsibility 

Graham Kissack is Catalyst Paper’s Vice President, Sustainability and Social Responsibility focusing on EH&S plus government relations, First Nations and communications. He has been practicing as a specialist in the resource industry for 26 years managing environmental issues, sustainability practices, indigenous relations and branding work. He has a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, a Master’s in Pulp and Paper Engineering and an MBA. Graham is involved with numerous ENGO groups on issues relating to climate change, recycling and deforestation.
